In the Jewar area of Gautam Buddh Nagar district, a case has been filed against five employees of the electricity department following an incident where a contract worker was electrocuted. The police provided this update on Wednesday.


According to police reports, the injured worker is currently in stable condition.


Details of the FIR

The First Information Report (FIR) names a junior engineer (JE), a station switching officer (SSO), and a lineman as the accused. Sanjay Singh, the officer in charge of Jewar police station, stated that the FIR was registered on January 11 based on a complaint from Ashok, a resident of Sirsa Khadar village. Ashok's brother is employed at the Jewar electricity substation.


Circumstances of the Incident

The incident reportedly occurred on January 10 at around 3:30 PM in Rampur Bangar village. Following instructions from his superiors, the contract worker climbed a pole to connect wires after receiving a shutdown order.


Ashok alleged that while his brother was on the pole, other department employees restored the electricity, resulting in a severe shock that caused him to suffer serious burns.


The police confirmed that the FIR includes the names of Vishal (SSO), Rajendra Lodhi (JE), Govind (lineman), Nitin (SSO), and Kapil Kumar (JE) as the accused.
