Fit India Sundays on Cycle Event

The 92nd edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle took place on Sunday morning at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in ITO, New Delhi, organized in partnership with Sulabh International as part of Hindi Pakhwada 2026. This event united cycling and fitness enthusiasts under the banner of promoting an active lifestyle.

Under the theme 'Pedal for Fitness, Ride for a Cleaner India,' the initiative emphasized the significance of cycling, fitness, and cleanliness in fostering a healthier society, as stated in a press release from SAI Media. The collaboration with Sulabh International reinforced the message of public health and cleanliness, while the celebration of Hindi Pakhwada added a cultural touch to the event. Notable attendees included Sabita Mahato (Endurance athlete, Ultra-runner, Cyclist, Mountaineer), Kiran Chillar (Fitness Model, Indian Flag Runner, Mrs. India 2019), and Prem Prakash Meena (Fit India Ambassador).

Fitness and Cleanliness Advocated by Leaders

The event commenced with the honoring of distinguished guests, followed by participants taking the Nasha Mukti pledge, committing to a healthy, substance-free lifestyle. The cycling rally was then officially launched. GP Upadhyay, a retired IAS officer and Senior Advisor at Sulabh International, remarked, 'It’s wonderful to see so many people gathered on this beautiful Sunday morning in response to our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s call to cycle and stay fit. We also pledged for de-addiction. The involvement of Sulabh International today is particularly meaningful, as it merges the messages of fitness and cleanliness. We must persist with the Swachh Bharat mission, as cleanliness is essential for a healthy society and fitness.'

A Morning Full of Activities

The fitness activities kicked off early at 5:30 AM, attracting over 1,000 participants who cycled and engaged in various fitness activities such as yoga, Zumba, and rope skipping. Participants also enjoyed a 5 km run and cycling ride around the stadium. A dedicated game zone was established, featuring board games like carrom and chess, along with sports activities including badminton, tug of war, and an obstacle race, keeping the participants energized throughout the morning.

Inspiring the Youth

Sabita Mahato, an endurance athlete, shared an important message for the youth: 'It’s crucial to dedicate at least half an hour to fitness every day. If we maintain a workout routine for 21 days, it becomes a habit. Establishing good habits is vital in our daily lives.'
