He led the 82nd edition of this nationwide event at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium on Sunday, with activities taking place at over 10,000 locations across India.
Launched in December 2024, this initiative has evolved into a significant movement encouraging individuals of all ages to commit to "fitness ki dose, aadha ghanta roz" (30 minutes of daily fitness). To date, more than 3 million participants have engaged in this event across various locations.
Celebrity Participation in New Delhi
In New Delhi, notable figures such as Hockey Olympian Preety Dubey, Fit India champion Charul Malik, and yoga expert Anita Solanki participated in cycling around the iconic India Gate and Kartavya Path.
Encouraging Personal Health
This unique event motivates individuals to prioritize their health through activities like running, cycling, yoga, and Zumba. A special Game Zone for children features life-sized chess, ludo, carrom, table tennis, futsal, and badminton.
A Small Effort with Significant Impact
Mandaviya stated, "Today marks the 82nd edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle, with participation from lakhs of Ayushman Arogya Mandir personnel across the nation. Health workers have spread the message of fitness by cycling at over 15,000 locations today, joining the Prime Minister's Fit India movement. Cycling is a small effort that yields immense results."
He emphasized that cycling for just one hour each Sunday can enhance fitness, reduce pollution, and conserve fuel resources, inspiring many young people to adopt cycling as a means to stay healthy.
Advocating Preventive Healthcare
Anshul Mudgal, State Program Officer for Ayushman Arogya Mandir, explained that their collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) aims to promote preventive healthcare. He noted that 415 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have been inaugurated in Delhi, focusing on ensuring that people remain healthy and do not fall ill. Mudgal expressed enthusiasm for participating in the Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative, which raises awareness about prioritizing physical health.
