Clarification on Fire Incident in Delhi

New Delhi: On Monday, the Congress party raised alarms following reports of a fire at a Ministry of Education office. However, it was later clarified that the incident actually occurred at the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) building, not within the ministry's premises.

The fire erupted in the SPA building located in central Delhi, leading to a swift emergency response that included numerous fire trucks, ambulances, and police personnel, according to law enforcement officials.

Initially, the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) had indicated that the blaze originated from the Ministry of Education's office situated on the SPA campus.

In response to the reports, Congress's general secretary for communications, Jairam Ramesh, expressed his concern on social media, stating that the news about a fire in the Education Ministry's offices was alarming and seemed suspicious.

Subsequently, it was confirmed that the fire was indeed at the SPA facility.

The Ministry of Education issued a statement clarifying that some media outlets had inaccurately reported the fire's location. They emphasized that the Ministry is based at Kartavya Bhavan-2, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road, New Delhi, while the fire incident took place at the School of Planning and Architecture, located at 4- Block B, Indraprastha Estate, Vikas Marg (ITO).

This clarification was made to prevent the spread of misinformation regarding the fire incident.

Furthermore, the ministry noted that the fire at the SPA building was minor and was swiftly controlled, with no casualties or property damage reported.
