Fire Breaks Out in ICU at JK Lone Hospital

Jaipur. A fire erupted in the ICU of JK Lone Hospital, the largest children's hospital in the state, around 3:00 AM on Sunday due to a short circuit in the ducting. At the time of the incident, approximately 25 newborns, their families, and around 60 hospital staff members were present in the ICU. The sudden outbreak of smoke caused panic among the relatives, but fortunately, the quick actions of the staff prevented a major disaster.

Upon receiving the alert, nursing supervisor Neelam Nawaria acted swiftly by shutting off the main power switch of the ICU, which cut off the electricity supply and allowed for an immediate evacuation of the area, averting a potential tragedy that could have endangered many lives.

As a precaution, Nawaria also notified the fire brigade, which arrived at the hospital within just 10 minutes. The superintendent, Dr. Ram Narayan Sehra, assessed the situation upon arrival and ensured that patients and their families faced no further issues. Dr. Vijay Nainiwal and other nursing staff were also present during this critical time.

Lack of Ventilation in ICU Raises Concerns

The fire filled the ICU with smoke, causing distress among the relatives. There are no emergency exits or windows for ventilation in the ICU, which poses a significant risk in case of future incidents. Without proper ventilation, a serious accident could lead to loss of life and property.

“Fortunately, there were no casualties. The staff acted promptly and managed the situation effectively. Currently, technical staff are being called in to rectify the issues,”

Dr. Ram Narayan Sehra
Acting Superintendent
