Fire Erupts in Train Toilet in Pune, Passengers Panic

Incident Overview
On Monday morning, a fire broke out in the toilet of a running DEMU (Diesel Electric Multiple Unit) train in Pune district, causing panic among passengers, according to police reports.
An officer from the railway police in Daund stated that the incident occurred around 8 AM near Yavat in Pune district. Fortunately, the fire was quickly controlled, and there were no reports of injuries.
A railway spokesperson confirmed that a person from Madhya Pradesh has been taken into custody in connection with the incident. Initial investigations suggest that a passenger allegedly discarded a 'bidi' (a type of Indian cigarette) into the trash bin near the train's toilet.
The officer explained, 'The incident took place around 8 AM. There was paper and other waste in the compartment, which ignited, leading to smoke emanating from the toilet. This caused a commotion among the passengers.'
He added that the compartment had very few passengers at the time. The fire was extinguished promptly, and thankfully, no one was harmed during the incident.
