Fire Erupts in Mumbai High-Rise, 40 Residents Rescued Safely
Fire Incident in Andheri West
A fire broke out early Thursday morning in a 23-story residential building located in the Andheri West area of Mumbai, prompting the evacuation of nearly 40 residents, according to officials.
The incident occurred around 10 AM at the Sorrento Tower, situated near the Country Club on Veera Desai Road. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
A municipal official stated that approximately 30 to 40 individuals were evacuated via the stairwell from the 16th floor, while three others, including a woman, were rescued from an apartment on the 15th floor.
The fire affected electrical shafts between the 10th and 21st floors, damaging wires and other equipment, as well as routers, shoe cabinets, and wooden furniture located near ducts on various floors.
Firefighters managed to control the blaze by 11:37 AM, deploying at least four fire engines and additional equipment. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
