Bengaluru, May 30: A substantial fire broke out at Chitrakoota Kaushalya School located near Jnanabharathi in Bengaluru's Visvesvaraya Layout on Saturday, causing alarm among local residents.

According to law enforcement officials, the blaze originated on the fifth floor of the educational institution.

Fortunately, as the school was closed for summer break, a significant disaster was avoided.

Initial investigations indicate that the fire might have been triggered by an electrical short circuit.

The fire was first detected in the auditorium and rapidly spread across the entire floor. Staff members present in the auditorium managed to evacuate safely before the flames expanded.

Three fire engines were dispatched to the scene, and firefighters successfully contained the fire after an extensive operation.

Thankfully, there were no reported injuries or fatalities. Fire and Emergency Services acted promptly, preventing the fire from spreading to other areas of the school.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the fire's cause and evaluate the damage inflicted on the school property.

In a separate incident, a furniture showroom was completely destroyed by fire in Sanganakeri Cross, located in the Mudalagi taluk of Belagavi district in northern Karnataka.

The SMK Furniture Shop was entirely consumed by flames, which reportedly erupted around midnight, accompanied by an explosion that facilitated the rapid spread of the fire, leaving the shop in ruins.

Valuable furniture and materials worth crores of rupees were lost in this incident.

Fortunately, the security guard, who was resting outside the showroom, escaped without injury and promptly alerted the authorities upon noticing the fire.

Firefighters arrived quickly and managed to control the situation. The local Ghataprabha police have filed a case and are conducting an investigation.

Initial findings suggest that an electrical short circuit may have caused the fire, but police are also looking into the circumstances surrounding the reported explosion and are awaiting a comprehensive technical evaluation.
