Fire Breaks Out in Raipur Government Hospital Emergency Department

On July 28, a fire erupted in the emergency department of a government hospital in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. Authorities reported that patients and their families were promptly evacuated to safer areas. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries.

The Public Relations Officer of the hospital indicated that the blaze occurred in the afternoon at the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, commonly referred to as Makahara. Smoke spread throughout the emergency ward and adjacent areas, prompting the evacuation of patients and their relatives as a precautionary measure.

Medical staff, hospital personnel, and security teams collaborated in the evacuation and rescue efforts. Upon receiving the alert, two fire engines, along with police and district administration officials, arrived at the scene. Firefighters managed to control the flames within a short period.

Initial investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit or a malfunction in the air conditioning unit within the emergency ward. However, the exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined. Officials have initiated an inquiry to ascertain the reasons behind the incident.
