Late Saturday night, a fire erupted in a 14-story residential building located in the Mumbra area of Thane district, as reported by local officials. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries or casualties related to this incident.


Details of the Fire

The Shil Fire Station notified the disaster control room about the blaze at 2:54 AM. According to Yasin Tadvi, head of the disaster management cell of Thane Municipal Corporation, the fire originated in an 'electric duct' situated between the fourth and seventh floors of the 'SK Residency Building' near the Mumbra bypass.


Containment Efforts

Tadvi stated, 'The fire was confined to the electrical cable duct, and no residential flats were affected. There are no reports of injuries from the site.' Fire department personnel, along with the regional disaster management team and police, quickly arrived at the scene to initiate firefighting efforts. Residents of the building also assisted in extinguishing the flames using available fire extinguishers.


Fire Extinguished

The fire was completely extinguished by 3:42 AM. While the exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, initial indications suggest a malfunction within the duct system. Tadvi emphasized the importance of regular reviews of fire safety measures by various residential societies and strict adherence to safety protocols.
