FIR Filed Against Congress Leader for Controversial Remarks on PM Modi
FIR Against Ajay Rai in Mahoba District
An FIR has been lodged against Ajay Rai, the President of the Uttar Pradesh State Congress Committee, following allegations of making controversial remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and disrupting public order. The police initiated action after a video surfaced on social media, showing a gathering led by Rai that obstructed public infrastructure. According to senior police officials, this incident pertains to an unlawful assembly and obstruction of public roads.
Details of the Incident
Assistant Superintendent of Police Vandana Singh reported that a video was received via social media on May 22, 2026, depicting Congress leader Ajay Rai illegally assembling with his supporters and hindering government operations while blocking a public road. Singh further stated that Rai also made offensive comments against the Prime Minister. A complaint was filed at the Mahoba Kotwali police station, leading to the registration of an FIR under several sections of the law.
Political Criticism and Legal Action
The FIR was filed based on a formal complaint by advocate Neeraj Rawat, who criticized the political language adopted by Congress leadership, suggesting it reflects the party's culture. He expressed concern that such behavior might be part of the training within the Congress party. The FIR includes the names of 25 to 30 supporters, including the outgoing secretary of the Congress Committee, Brijraj Ahirwar.
BJP's Response to the Controversy
In response to the remarks, BJP national spokesperson C.R. Keshavan condemned the comments as unacceptable and criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly promoting such behavior among party members. Keshavan stated that under Rahul Gandhi's leadership, the Congress party has deteriorated into a haven for corrupt elements like Ajay Rai. He emphasized that Rai's derogatory comments about PM Modi are inexcusable and came shortly after Gandhi's own disparaging remarks against the Prime Minister, suggesting a pattern of inappropriate conduct being encouraged within the party.
