FIFA Unveils Innovative Technologies for 2025 Club World Cup in the USA

Introduction of New Technologies
FIFA has revealed two significant technological advancements for the upcoming 2025 Club World Cup, set to take place in the United States. These innovations include referees utilizing body cameras and a sophisticated offside detection system.
Referees Equipped with Body Cameras
In a historic first for FIFA tournaments, match officials will don body cameras, offering a fresh viewpoint of the action on the field. Selected footage from these cameras will be streamed live, providing fans with an engaging viewing experience.
Advanced Offside Detection System
An upgraded version of semi-automated offside technology (SAOT) will also be implemented, utilizing artificial intelligence, multiple cameras, and ball sensors. This system is designed to speed up decision-making while still allowing for VAR review on contentious calls.
A Testing Ground for Innovations
The 2025 Club World Cup, which will expand to include 32 teams, will act as a crucial testing ground for these new technologies. The tournament will feature teams from all six continental confederations:
1. AFC (Asia)
2. CAF (Africa)
3. Concacaf (North, Central America, and the Caribbean)
4. CONMEBOL (South America)
5. OFC (Oceania)
6. UEFA (Europe)
