New Ticket Tier for 2026 World Cup

FIFA has announced a new ticket option called the "Supporter Entry Tier," priced at $60, aimed at enhancing accessibility for devoted fans ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This initiative comes in response to concerns regarding the previously high ticket prices and dynamic pricing strategies. The Supporter Entry Tier will be available for all 104 matches during the tournament and will be distributed through national federations to fans who have shown loyalty to their teams.

Details on Ticket Distribution

On Tuesday, FIFA confirmed that the $60 Supporter Entry Tier will be accessible for all matches in the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Tickets will be allocated to Participating Member Associations, as reported by a sports news outlet.

Ticket Allocation Strategy

FIFA's ticket allocation strategy guarantees that 50% of tickets from each national federation will be affordable. This includes 40% in the Supporter Value Tier and 10% in the Supporter Entry Tier. The remaining tickets will be evenly divided between the Supporter Standard and Supporter Premier tiers, providing fans with various options.

Addressing Fan Concerns

The introduction of the $60 Supporter Entry Tier is a direct response to fan criticism regarding the initial ticket pricing, which ranged from $120 to $265 for group-stage matches, along with concerns about dynamic pricing, additional fees, and refund policies.

World Cup Format and Schedule

The FIFA World Cup is scheduled to commence on June 11, featuring Mexico facing South Africa in the opening match at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. The tournament will be co-hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada. The group stage format has been finalized following a spectacular Final Draw ceremony held at the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, earlier this month. For the first time, the 2026 World Cup will include 48 teams, organized into 12 groups of four. The top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-place teams, will progress to the round of 32.
