Why Goa?

Goa: The Perfect Venue for the World Cup

Goa's stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality create an exciting backdrop for this global competition. Players and fans will experience world-class chess while enjoying the charm and energy that this destination is renowned for.

India has a deep-rooted connection with chess and has emerged as a global powerhouse in recent years, producing top players and hosting significant tournaments. Last year, Gukesh D. became the World Champion, while Indian teams clinched victories in both the open and women's categories at the Chess Olympiad. This momentum continued in July when Divya Deshmukh made headlines by winning the Women's World Cup. Hosting the Open World Cup in Goa further enhances these achievements and offers local fans the chance to see their stars compete against the best players on home soil.
