Discovery of the Deceased Leopard
A female leopard has been discovered deceased in the Sohagi Barwa Wildlife Sanctuary located in Maharajganj district. This information was confirmed by a forest official on Sunday.
According to Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Niranjan Surve, local villagers spotted the dead leopard near the Basouli forest in the Madhwaliya range. Upon receiving the report, departmental officials promptly arrived at the scene.
Investigation and Post-Mortem
The cause of the leopard's death remains unknown at this time. The carcass has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Surve mentioned that following the post-mortem, the disposal of the deceased female leopard will be conducted in accordance with the guidelines set by the National Tiger Conservation Authority.
