Farmers Rally in Nagapattinam
In Nagapattinam, farmers organized a protest rally condemning the Tamil Nadu government led by the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). Tensions escalated when police attempted to halt the march, resulting in clashes between the farmers and law enforcement.
The demonstrators demanded the immediate implementation of the agricultural loan waiver promised by the Tamil Nadu government during the election campaign. They urged both the central and state governments to prevent the Karnataka government from advancing the proposed dam project at Mekedatu on the Cauvery River. This protest was jointly organized by the Tamil Nadu Farmers Protection Association and the Joint Action Committee of Tamil Nadu Farmers' Unions.

Farmers marched from the Avuri ground in Nagapattinam towards the district collector's office, submitting a petition outlining their demands. Despite police denying permission for the rally, the farmers continued their march, disregarding the restrictions. Over 500 farmers from Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, and Karaikal districts participated in the demonstration, chanting slogans for the Tamil Nadu government to announce a comprehensive waiver of agricultural loans and for the central and state governments to take action against the construction of the dam at Mekedatu.
Police intervened near the state transport corporation workshop, leading to a brief confrontation with the protesters. The farmers broke through police barricades and continued their march towards government offices.

Once again, police stopped the protesters near the revenue divisional officer's office, attempting to detain them, which led to a heated argument between the farmers and police officials. Subsequently, the police advised the protesters to submit their petition to the revenue divisional officer. The farmers complied and submitted their memorandum. After handing over the petition, representatives of the farmers' unions who continued the protest were taken into custody by the police.
