Farmer Grows Giant Cabbage Weighing 30 Kilograms in Newport
A Remarkable Agricultural Achievement
Many individuals enjoy cabbage, particularly varieties like cauliflower and green cabbage, which are commonly found in our kitchens. Typically, cabbages are manageable in size, easily lifted with one hand for transport. However, a farmer in Newport, UK, has cultivated a cabbage so enormous that it requires at least two people to lift it. This impressive cabbage weighs a staggering 30 kilograms, and the farmer, Ian Neale, has received accolades for his achievement.
Ian showcased this colossal cabbage at a local flower show, where attendees praised his farming skills. This isn't the first time Ian has grown such massive vegetables; he has previously presented oversized carrots and beetroots at similar events. One carrot weighed 4 kilograms, while a beetroot tipped the scales at 19 kilograms—quite a feat considering that in many places, you could find hundreds of carrots for the same weight.
Spectators were astonished by Ian's accomplishments. He emphasized that these gigantic vegetables were grown using entirely natural methods and expressed his intention to cultivate even more impressive produce in the future. Ian donated the giant cabbage to the flower show organizers and took the beetroot and carrot home to feed his livestock.
While Ian's cabbage is remarkable, it falls short of the world record for the heaviest cabbage, which stands at 62 kilograms. This record was set by Scott Robb from the USA. Ian's cabbage is nearly half the weight of this record holder.
On the other hand, Ian holds the record for the heaviest beetroot, having grown a 23.4-kilogram beetroot in 2001, a record that remains unbroken after nearly 17 years.
