Family Feud Erupts Over Employee Transfers in Himachal Pradesh

Public Dispute Between Father and Son

DHARAMSHALA: A long-standing family conflict involving Himachal Pradesh's Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar and his son, former MLA Neeraj Bharti, has resurfaced, this time focusing on the transfers of government employees.

On Thursday, June 19, 2025, Neeraj Bharti took to social media to vehemently criticize both his father and the Congress-led government under Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, intensifying an ongoing verbal clash that shows no signs of resolution. His extensive Facebook post highlights the strained dynamics between the two.

Bharti, known for his outspoken nature in state politics, accused the government and his father of neglecting party members regarding transfer decisions, labeling them as 'politically biased and demoralizing for Congress supporters.'

Social Media Becomes a Battleground

In his recent Facebook update, Neeraj Bharti launched a fierce critique, claiming that the Congress administration is perpetuating the practices of the previous BJP government by failing to annul what he referred to as 'pro-BJP' transfers.

“If the transfers made during the BJP's rule are not revoked, I will continue this battle alone if necessary — against the government and even my own father,” Bharti asserted.

He emphasized that this conflict is ideological rather than personal, framing it as a broader fight for Congress supporters statewide. “This is not about personal grievances or property disputes. It’s a struggle for the thousands of Congress workers who have supported the party through challenging times,” he stated.

Minister Responds, Son Retorts

Interestingly, Bharti's remarks followed a statement from Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar, who attempted to quell rumors regarding his resignation and mitigate the controversy. However, his efforts seemed to backfire.

Bharti criticized his father's position, particularly his assertion that political leaders should refrain from involvement in transfer issues. “When in opposition, you promise party workers that their concerns will be addressed once in power. Yet, once in government, you claim you are not responsible for transfers — how is that just?” Bharti publicly questioned.

History of Disagreements

This public disagreement is not a new occurrence. The relationship between Chander Kumar and Neeraj Bharti has been characterized by numerous ideological and political conflicts, many of which have become public.

As this internal discord unfolds in the public eye, it highlights the growing divide within the Congress party in the hill state, potentially providing leverage to opposition parties.
