Dalhousie — A family conflict has become public in Himachal Pradesh, as Pankaj Kapoor, a well-known construction entrepreneur from Dalhousie, has lodged a complaint against his father, Tilak Raj Kapoor, alleging that he is damaging his reputation on social media.
Pankaj submitted a formal complaint to the Superintendent of Police in Chamba, claiming that his father orchestrated an online smear campaign aimed at undermining both his personal and professional standing. He has requested that a First Information Report (FIR) be filed under laws pertaining to defamation and cybercrime, urging for stringent legal measures against those involved.
On August 19, 2025, a video was posted on a Facebook page named “Samaj Sewak,” which Pankaj described as containing “false and unfounded accusations” against him. He stated, “The video is entirely fabricated and was created solely to damage my reputation,” as noted in his complaint.
Additionally, Pankaj has called on the police to promptly block the offensive video and remove the Facebook page. He has asked authorities to retrieve technical information from Facebook and internet service providers to trace the page's operator, who could then face legal action.
In his remarks, Pankaj stressed the urgency of addressing the misuse of social media for personal grievances. “This is not just an assault on my reputation but also an effort to tarnish my father, Tilak Raj Kapoor's, image through false narratives,” he stated.
The complaint brings to light issues of defamation and cybercrime, highlighting the increasing difficulties law enforcement faces in managing personal disputes that unfold in the digital realm. With the Chamba police now involved, the outcome of this unusual father-son conflict remains uncertain, both within the family and in legal proceedings.
