Family Attacked in Delhi After Complaining About Drug Use Nearby

New Delhi, April 21: A disturbing incident unfolded in the Sonia Vihar area of northeast Delhi, where a family was reportedly assaulted in their home after they raised concerns about drug use occurring near their residence in the fourth Pusta area, adjacent to Durga Mandir.
The family reported that a group of individuals frequently gathered at an empty lot close to their home to consume drugs. After previously lodging a complaint about this issue, tensions escalated between the family and the accused.
The situation intensified when the suspects allegedly vandalized the family's parked vehicle and attempted to set it ablaze. Following this incident, the family filed another complaint with law enforcement.
On the day of the attack, the accused, accompanied by several others, reportedly forced their way into the family's home and assaulted them with sticks, rods, and knives. An elderly woman and her two sons were injured during the attack, with Arun and Aryan being identified as the victims, one of whom is in critical condition.
Upon receiving the report, police arrived at the scene and transported the injured individuals to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were subsequently referred to GTB Hospital for advanced medical care.
Arun, one of the injured, recounted, “They set my car on fire after I filed a complaint. Then they broke into our home and assaulted us. My brother is in serious condition. I suffered a head injury from a rod and a knife wound to my chest.”
The family claims they continue to receive threats. Authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
Local residents have voiced their concerns regarding the ongoing anti-social activities in the area, calling for increased police patrols to avert further incidents.
Police officials have stated that they are actively working to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the attack. Specialized teams have been established to track down the suspects, and further legal actions will be determined based on the investigation and witness testimonies.
