Terrorist Attack Foiled in Punjab

A significant terrorist plot aimed at sabotaging railway tracks near the Shambhu border in Punjab's Patiala district has been thwarted. The banned terrorist group, Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), has claimed responsibility for the incident. The explosion occurred on a Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) for freight trains on Monday night, resulting in the death of a suspected terrorist at the scene.


Currently residing in Germany, Jaswinder Multani has taken responsibility for this attack. Police reported that early in the day, a major explosion took place on the railway track of the Dedicated Freight Corridor near Shambhu, marking an unsuccessful attempt to blow up the track.


Second Explosion in Three Months

Notably, this marks the second explosion on the freight corridor within three months. A senior police official indicated that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is likely to conduct an investigation into the matter. Patiala's SSP Varun Sharma confirmed that the individual attempting the explosion died during the incident.


Identity of the Deceased Suspect Revealed

The deceased suspect has been identified as Jagroop Singh from Punjwar village in Tarn Taran district. Special Director General of Police (Railways) Shashi Prabha Dwivedi, who visited the explosion site, noted that CCTV footage captured the suspect parking his motorcycle in Amritsar.


Details of the Explosion

The explosion occurred on a section of the Shambhu-Ambala railway track. Initially, it was considered a low-intensity blast; however, police later clarified that it was an unsuccessful attempt to destroy the track. The blast took place near Bothonia village on the dedicated rail track for freight trains, causing some damage to the track and creating a small crater beneath the railway line.
