Tragic Incident in Kanpur District

In a shocking turn of events, a key eyewitness in a murder case in Kanpur district has reportedly been abducted and killed. Authorities confirmed this distressing news on Friday.


The victim has been identified as 50-year-old Vimal Gautam, a tractor driver who was allegedly kidnapped on Wednesday. He was taken from his home in the Binagwan village, located in the western part of the city, and his body was discovered in the Panki canal on Friday morning.


Assistant Police Commissioner Krishna Kant Yadav stated that the injuries on the victim's face and head suggest he may have been struck with a hammer before being disposed of in the canal.


The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Vimal's son, Shivam Gautam, shared with reporters on Friday that the family had initiated a search for his father but could not locate him. They subsequently reached out to the local police for assistance.


Shivam also informed the police that his father was a crucial eyewitness in a murder case and was scheduled to testify against a man named Zakir, the father of Irfan, in court on July 12. He alleged that the abduction was intended to prevent his father from giving testimony.
