How to Play NYT Connections

Players are presented with a grid of words, and the objective is to identify the connections among them. Consider synonyms, antonyms, and related word families to solve the puzzle. If you encounter difficulties, hints are available within the game. You can also monitor your daily progress and challenge friends to see who can solve the most puzzles.

A new puzzle is released daily at midnight, accessible via the NYT website or app. Your task is to organize 16 words into four groups of four based on their connections. Categories can include clickable items, names of research participants, or words associated with body parts.

Each puzzle has a single solution, so be cautious of words that may fit into multiple categories. You can rearrange words to discover their connections.

The groups are color-coded, with yellow typically being the easiest, blue and green in the middle, and purple often the most challenging, usually involving wordplay.

Select four words that you believe belong together and click the ‘Submit’ button. Incorrect guesses will cost you a life, while correct group formations may prompt a message indicating you're close to success. If you make four mistakes, the game ends.
