Record Participation in Upcoming Championship

Over 127 teams from various regions of India have registered to compete in the second edition of the Harish Sharma 3 on 3 All India Basketball Championship, scheduled for December 27-28 at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall, Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex, New Delhi, as per a recent press release.


Selection and Special Guests

A total of 87 teams will be chosen, comprising 63 men's teams and 24 women's teams. Roopam Harish Sharma, Chairperson of the organizing committee, announced that this edition will feature Arjuna Awardees and a Padma Shri Awardee among other distinguished guests, honoring the legacy of the late Harish Sharma, a celebrated basketball player and sports administrator.


Mascot and Theme Song Unveiled

The Championship's mascot, named 'Titu Hoops' after Harish Sharma's nickname, was introduced alongside the tournament's theme song. The elephant mascot represents wisdom, strength, and teamwork, embodying the spirit of the event.


Prizes and Championship Format

Winning teams in both categories will receive a cash prize of Rs 1 Lakh, while the second and third place teams will be awarded Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000, respectively. Sudhanshu Mittal, Co-Chairperson of the Organising Committee, emphasized that the championship format is designed for speed and excitement, reflecting a modern approach to basketball.


Future of Basketball in India

Mukesh Kalia, the current DBA, mentioned that the Senior National Basketball Championship 3-on-3 is set for the last week of January 2026, with the Harish Sharma Championship serving as a precursor to this event.

The press conference featured notable attendees, including former Union Minister Vijay Goel and other prominent figures from the basketball community. Goel remarked on the rapid growth of basketball in India and expressed hope that this championship will elevate the sport further.


Event Logistics and Endorsements

The championship will take place across three basketball courts simultaneously, ensuring an exhilarating experience for both players and fans. Organized by the Prithvi Nath Club (PNC) in collaboration with the Delhi Basketball Association (DBA), the event is officially sanctioned by the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and endorsed by FIBA 3x3.
