Strengthening Global Connectivity
New Delhi: IndiGo, along with Delta Air Lines, Air France-KLM, and Virgin Atlantic, has unveiled a new partnership aimed at improving air travel connectivity between India, Europe, and North America.
This collaboration will connect numerous cities across the US, Canada, Europe, and India, addressing the growing demand for international travel while establishing new benchmarks for cooperation in the aviation sector.
As India's largest airline, IndiGo is on a mission to broaden its international reach, planning to launch flights to ten new international destinations by the end of the fiscal year in March 2026.
The announcement was made during a press conference in the capital, featuring leaders from all four airlines, including IndiGo's CEO Pieter Elbers and Delta's CEO Ed Bastian.
India is recognized as one of the fastest-growing markets in civil aviation globally.
Under the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the airlines will work towards fostering deeper collaboration on both bilateral and multilateral fronts.
The partnership will also explore commercial synergies in areas such as network expansion, loyalty programs, cargo services, and sales.
Additionally, they will investigate non-commercial collaborations, including aircraft maintenance, sustainability initiatives, training, and ground handling.
Pieter Elbers expressed that IndiGo is on an ambitious path to becoming a global airline by 2030.
He emphasized that this partnership not only strengthens ties with Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic but also marks a significant new chapter with Delta Air Lines.
Benjamin Smith, CEO of Air France-KLM, expressed enthusiasm about extending their partnership with IndiGo alongside Delta and Virgin Atlantic, highlighting India's strategic importance to their operations.
Shai Weiss, CEO of Virgin Atlantic, noted that they are excited to enhance their existing collaboration with IndiGo and their joint venture with Delta and Air France-KLM as they celebrate 25 years of service to India.
Delta Air Lines' CEO Ed Bastian announced plans to resume flights to India in the near future, with direct services anticipated between Atlanta and Delhi, pending government approvals.
