Durand Cup Kicks Off on July 25

The 135th edition of the Durand Cup is set to commence on July 25, culminating in the final match on August 23. Defending champions NorthEast United FC will return to compete for their title. This year, a total of 24 teams, including two international squads, will participate, with matches scheduled across five cities.


Notably, Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, will host Durand Cup matches for the first time at the Birsa Munda Stadium. Other venues include Kolkata's Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan and Kishore Bharati Krirangan, Guwahati's Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Imphal's Khuman Lampak Stadium, and Shillong's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Preparations are already underway in these cities.

As the new season approaches, both East Bengal and Mohun Bagan Super Giant are anticipated to appoint new coaches for their senior teams, although no official announcements have been made yet.
