Police Action Against Drug Traffickers
The Punjab Police have initiated a campaign against drugs, setting a deadline for May 31. The victim, identified as Randhir Singh, was targeted in Bhai Bakhtore village while intervening in a drug smuggling operation.
Recently, law enforcement apprehended three individuals involved in drug trafficking—Maninderjit Singh, Peter, and Lovejit Singh, also known as Raja—near Shankar Dhaba on Attari Road in Amritsar.
Details of the Crackdown
The Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab shared on social media, detailing a significant operation by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF). They seized four PX5 Storm pistols, over 500 grams of heroin, seven magazines, and 55 live cartridges. An FIR has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Arms Act.

Further Developments
In a separate incident, the DGP reported that the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police recovered eight kilograms of heroin and two illegal firearms after arresting Shivam Sodhi, who was found with five kilograms of heroin. His subsequent disclosures led to the arrest of an accomplice, Barinder Singh, who was caught with additional heroin and firearms.
The total haul included 13 kilograms of heroin, two illegal weapons, six live rounds, and ₹22,000 in drug money, with FIRs filed under the NDPS Act.
