Ex-Boyfriend Arrested for Harassment via 300 COD Orders
Bizarre Harassment Case Unfolds
A 24-year-old bank executive became the target of harassment from her ex-boyfriend, who inundated her with 300 cash-on-delivery (COD) orders over a span of four months, prompting her to lodge a complaint.
The woman, employed at a nationalized bank in Lake Town, found herself overwhelmed by a barrage of COD deliveries, which included everything from pricey electronics to trivial gifts—none of which she had ordered. This situation not only caused her embarrassment in front of neighbors and delivery personnel but also led to the suspension of her accounts on Amazon and Flipkart due to the excessive number of unclaimed packages.
Investigations revealed that her former partner, 25-year-old Suman Sikdar from Nadia, was responsible for this harassment.
According to police reports, Sikdar, upset over their breakup, orchestrated the deliveries as a form of revenge. An officer from the Bidhannagar Commissionerate stated, “The man admitted to placing the orders and harassing her through calls and texts from unknown numbers. He believed that she had left him due to his financial limitations, as she often requested gifts he couldn't afford, which fueled his actions.”
The harassment reportedly began in November, shortly after their relationship ended. The woman recounted the ordeal of returning numerous parcels, with delivery agents arriving at her home daily. “All the items were cash-on-delivery, including tablets, mobile phones, dresses, and various small gifts. Throughout February, I received multiple deliveries of Valentine's Day gifts and other products each day. I had frequent disputes with delivery agents who rated me poorly, and when I contacted the e-commerce platforms, they blocked my account,” she explained.
Unable to endure the constant harassment, she filed a complaint at the Lake Town Police Station last month.
Sikdar was subsequently arrested and presented before a Salt Lake court on Wednesday, where he was granted bail.
