Nalbari, Nov 4: A total of 1,243 bighas of government land has been reported as encroached in Kaorekhaiti village, located in the Barkhetri Revenue Circle of Assam's Nalbari district, as per an eviction notice released on November 2.
The eviction notice highlights two types of encroached government land: Village Grazing Reserve (VGR) and general government land.
Specifically, 743 bighas of VGR land and 500 bighas of general government land have been identified as encroached, summing up to 1,243 bighas in total.
Occupants have been instructed to vacate the encroached areas within a 15-day timeframe, with a warning that legal measures will be taken if they fail to comply.
The revenue circle office indicated that this action aligns with directives from the Supreme Court.
“All illegal encroachments will be cleared in accordance with the orders of the Hon'ble Supreme Court,” the notice emphasized.
Addressed to the residents of Kaorekhaiti village, the notice reiterates the illegal occupation of government land and instructs the removal of encroachments within the specified period.
Additionally, the revenue circle office has called for objections and relevant information regarding the land and its allocation.
Individuals wishing to provide such information are encouraged to visit the office within the next 15 days.
Notices have been distributed to relevant revenue officials and the village head to ensure that the public is well-informed about the impending actions.
This initiative is part of the Assam government's ongoing efforts to identify and eliminate encroachments on government land throughout the state.
