She described the 25m final as a unique challenge that was more intense than it appeared, but she felt proud of how she managed the pressure. "We had an excellent training camp in Bhopal, which prepared us well for the Games. Although the 10m event didn’t go as I had hoped, I recognize that setbacks are part of being human. I plan to work on my performance and return even stronger. The 25m event presented a different kind of pressure, but I was able to navigate it successfully. The final was dramatic and not what I expected, but I believe this silver medal will be a cherished memory for me. While it may have seemed enjoyable from the outside, it was incredibly intense for me. I gave it my all and am pleased with my performance," Esha remarked.
The Intense Final and Shoot-off Details
In a fiercely contested final, Esha Singh and China's Xiao Jiaruixuan ended up tied with 38 hits each after 50 shots, matching the Asian Games record and necessitating a shoot-off to determine the gold medalist. Both competitors managed to hit four out of five targets in the initial shoot-off, but Xiao maintained her composure in the second round, narrowly defeating Singh 3-2 to claim the title at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery. The final was also marked by two interruptions due to technical issues, which added to the drama of the event.
Turning Challenges into Opportunities
Reflecting on the interruptions, Esha noted that the two jury errors during the final, while unusual and disruptive, provided her with crucial moments to reset and refocus. "The jury made mistakes twice during the match, which I had never experienced before. While it might have seemed like the breaks disrupted my rhythm, I believe they actually benefited me. They allowed me to take a moment to process what was happening and regain my focus. Ultimately, I think I returned to the competition even stronger because of those pauses," she explained.

For Esha, this silver medal marks her second consecutive medal in the women's 25m pistol event at the Asian Games. She had previously secured a runner-up position at Hangzhou 2023, contributing to India's team gold alongside fellow shooters Manu Bhaker and Rhythm Sangwan.
