Airstrikes Hit Residential Areas in Iran

In a tragic incident early Monday, an airstrike targeted a residential building in a city located southwest of Tehran, resulting in the deaths of at least 13 individuals, according to reports from Iranian media.

The strike occurred near Eslamshar, as reported by the semiofficial Fars news agency and Nour News.

The reasons behind the attack remain unclear.

While neither Israel nor the United States has claimed responsibility for the airstrikes, they followed a recent threatening statement from Trump, demanding that Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Reports from local media and activists indicated that additional strikes took place across various Iranian cities, including Ahvaz, Bandar Lengeh, Karaj, and Shiraz, from Sunday into Monday.

In Bandar Lengeh and Kong, at least six people were killed, and 17 others sustained injuries, as reported by the state-run IRAN newspaper.

Another airstrike in southeastern Tehran targeted a home, claiming the lives of at least three individuals, according to Iranian state television.

Additionally, airstrikes early Monday morning hit the Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, causing damage to buildings and a nearby natural gas distribution site.

The specific targets within the university grounds remain unknown, especially since the institution has shifted to online classes due to the ongoing conflict.

The university has faced sanctions from multiple countries over the years due to its collaboration with the military, particularly concerning Iran's ballistic missile program overseen by the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard.

The Revolutionary Guard and other security forces have been utilizing secondary locations as gathering points, as their main bases have faced repeated assaults during the conflict.

Furthermore, the state-run IRAN daily reported that an airstrike in a residential area of Qom, a significant Shiite seminary city south of Tehran, resulted in at least five fatalities.

The target of this strike also remains unclear.

Iran has not released comprehensive casualty figures from the ongoing war in recent days.
