Escalating Conflict: Iran's Death Toll Surges Amid Israeli Strikes
Rising Casualties in Iran Due to Ongoing Attacks
Tehran: According to Iran's Health Minister Mohammad-Reza Zafarghandi, the toll from Israeli airstrikes in Iran has tragically climbed to 606, with an additional 5,332 individuals reported injured over the last 12 days.
Zafarghandi characterized the last 24 hours as experiencing the "most horrific attacks and aggressions" from Israel since the conflict escalated on June 13, resulting in 104 fatalities and 1,342 injuries.
On the other hand, Israel's Health Ministry has documented 28 deaths and 3,238 injuries on its side since the conflict began.
In a late announcement, US President Donald Trump declared that a ceasefire between the two nations would commence around 0400 GMT on Tuesday, as reported by a news agency.
Despite both Iran and Israel agreeing to the ceasefire, reports of violations emerged just hours into the truce, with both parties pledging to retaliate.
Previously, Trump had issued a stern warning to both nations, accusing them of actions that could jeopardize the fragile peace.
"These guys need to calm down. It’s absurd. I was not pleased with many things I observed yesterday. I was unhappy that Israel launched attacks right after we reached an agreement... and the retaliation was excessive," Trump stated to reporters in Washington before departing for the NATO summit in The Hague.
He noted that both countries had "violated" the ceasefire announced late Monday.
"Israel, right after we made the deal, unleashed a barrage of bombs like I’ve never seen before... I’m not pleased with Israel. When I say you have 12 hours, you don’t go out in the first hour and drop everything you have on them. I’m not happy with them. I’m not happy with Iran either," the US President remarked.
"We essentially have two nations that have been engaged in conflict for so long that they’ve lost their way. Do you understand that?" he added.
Earlier, Trump had cautioned Israel against launching further strikes on Iran.
"Israel, do not drop those bombs. If you do, it will be a significant violation. Bring your pilots home, now!" Trump posted on Truth Social.
In a related development, Iran reportedly launched six missiles targeting American military installations in Iraq and Qatar on Monday night, further escalating tensions in the region.
