The Deputy Commissioner of Chamba, Mukesh Repaswal, has instructed officials to implement immediate and effective measures to boost tourism at Taleru Lake and the surrounding villages of Palei and Tipri.


During a review meeting held at the Taleru tourist site, Repaswal highlighted the importance of engaging local youth in tourism initiatives. This approach aims to improve visitor facilities while simultaneously generating both direct and indirect employment opportunities for the local population.


Key Initiatives Announced


  • Jetty Development: Upgrades to the jetty at Taleru are currently underway.

  • Boating Facilities: New dockyards will be constructed to facilitate safe boating operations between Taleru and the villages of Palei and Tipri.

  • Infrastructure Improvements: The Block Development Officer (BDO) Salooni has repaired toilets, restaurants, and other amenities. A parking area for approximately 20 vehicles has been established, with additional facilities nearing completion.

  • Clean Tourism Drive: A strict prohibition on plastic usage has been enforced, along with enhanced cleanliness and monitoring efforts.


Vision for the Future

Repaswal expressed a commitment to ongoing efforts aimed at developing Taleru into a prominent tourist destination within the Chamba district, enhancing its appeal and convenience for visitors.

In the same meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of various developmental schemes, including:



  • Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) housing projects

  • Disaster relief shelter arrangements for affected families

  • MGNREGA job card e-KYC and Aadhaar linking

  • Designating certain public areas as tobacco-free zones
