Enhanced Security Measures in Jammu and Kashmir Signal Zero Tolerance for Terrorism
Strengthened Security Operations Across Jammu and Kashmir
In Jammu and Kashmir, stringent security measures are being implemented to convey a clear political and military message. From the Line of Control to the interior regions, including Poonch, Rajouri, Samba, and Kishtwar, the unified stance is that there is no room for terrorism. The entire system is mobilized, from army review meetings to midnight search operations and stern warnings from top political leaders.
Operational Readiness Reviewed by Northern Army Commander
Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, the Northern Army Commander, recently visited Poonch district to assess the operational readiness of units engaged in anti-terrorism operations. This review, conducted in the Shahsitar area of Surankot, served as a clear indication of preparedness for future challenges. The commander emphasized the adoption of technology-based combat capabilities, real-time intelligence, and field-level coordination, asserting that the army is always ready to counter evolving terrorist tactics. This visit underscores that there will be no leniency in sensitive areas adjacent to the Line of Control.
Increased Ground Operations in Response to Suspicious Activities
Simultaneously, ground operations have intensified. Following reports of suspicious activities, security forces launched extensive search operations in Samba, Kishtwar, and Rajouri. In the Ghagwal area of Samba, joint teams of police and security forces acted on information regarding the movement of three suspects. A thorough search operation was also conducted in the Singhpora area of Kishtwar. Monitoring at every entry and exit point and vigilance over every suspect have become standard protocols.
Aggressive Search Operations in Rajouri
The situation in Rajouri has been particularly serious. A cordon and search operation commenced around midnight and escalated with the dawn. Joint teams from the 49 National Rifles, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Special Operations Group were deployed in villages between Thanamandi and Mankote sub-divisions. House-to-house and forest searches are ongoing in several areas, including Behrote Gali. The message is clear: action will continue until the area is completely secured.
Political Leadership's Support for Security Measures
This entire security landscape has received explicit backing from political leadership. Jammu and Kashmir's Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has firmly stated that the security achievements gained since 2019 must be preserved at all costs. During the first Union Territory-level security conference held at IIT Jammu, he clearly articulated that terrorists and their supporters must be eradicated, regardless of whether they are in valleys, forests, hills, or villages. His call for coordinated action against terrorism, its supporting networks, and ideologies demonstrates that there will be no gap between policy and action.
A Comprehensive Approach to Security in Jammu and Kashmir
Overall, the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir is characterized by an aggressive and preventive strategy. The army's preparedness from Poonch to Rajouri, search operations in Samba and Kishtwar, and the unequivocal orders from top leadership collectively send a strong message that terrorism will neither be allowed to flourish nor escape.
