Enhanced Drone Surveillance Deployed for Kashi Tamil Sangamam in Varanasi
Advanced Drone Technology for Event Security
The Varanasi district police have ramped up security measures for the fourth edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam by deploying an advanced fleet of next-generation drones. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Saravanan Thangamani from the Varanasi Commissionerate, a dedicated team of ten drone operators is ensuring the safety of attendees at the event.
Utilization of Various Drone Types
He mentioned to a news agency, 'We are utilizing next-generation drones. While drones were used last year, their deployment was minimal. We are currently employing three types of drones: mini drones, micro drones, and nano drones.'
Unique Features of Mini Drones
Highlighting the capabilities of the drone fleet, he noted that the mini drone is particularly unique as it can self-charge and operate continuously for 24 hours, unlike other battery-operated models. 'This drone can remain active around the clock, ensuring constant surveillance in any area,' he explained.
Micro Drones for Extensive Coverage
The officer elaborated on the micro drone's ability to monitor a vast area of up to two kilometers. Saravanan, the nodal officer for the Kashi Tamil Sangamam event, stated, 'It can cover a large region and will be utilized in the forest area behind Namo Ghat.'
Namo Ghat and Nano Drones
Namo Ghat is the location where Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 on December 2. The third type, nano drones, are capable of capturing images of suspicious activities. He provided an example, stating that if a vehicle remains parked unusually long in an area, the drone scans the vehicle and provides its image to the police. 'We take action based on the images captured by this drone,' he added.
Data Sharing for Prompt Action
Saravanan further explained that the surveillance data collected by all three types of drones (mini, micro, and nano) is promptly shared with senior police officials for necessary action.
