England's Henderson Dismisses Viagra Rumors Ahead of World Cup Match
England Prepares for High-Altitude Challenge
Jordan Henderson, the midfielder for England, has humorously dismissed rumors suggesting that the team is using Viagra to adapt to the high altitude in Mexico City before their 2026 FIFA World Cup match against Mexico at the renowned Estadio Azteca.
Acclimatization is Key for England
The England squad is concentrating on acclimatizing to the challenging conditions at nearly 2,000 meters above sea level as they gear up for their match against Mexico. While Henderson laughed off the speculation, both he and head coach Thomas Tuchel recognized the real physical challenges posed by the altitude in Mexico City as they prepare for the last-16 match.
Tuchel and Henderson Address the Speculation
Both Tuchel and Henderson have dismissed the online chatter regarding the potential use of Viagra to mitigate altitude effects. Tuchel stated, "I haven't received any information to support the Viagra rumors, so that's not true." Henderson added humorously, "Well, the Viagra helped, I think... I'm joking!"
Henderson further explained, "You can feel it a little bit when you arrive, even just walking around the hotel. During training, I noticed it in the first 10-15 minutes, but once I got into it, I focused on training instead."
WADA's Position and the Azteca Challenge
As reported, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) does not prohibit the use of Viagra, leading to speculation about its potential as a performance enhancer. England is set to face a formidable Mexican team known for their strong home advantage and the challenges posed by the altitude at the iconic Azteca Stadium during their round of 16 match on July 6.
