England Faces Setback as Chris Woakes Injured in Final Test Against India
Chris Woakes Suffers Shoulder Injury
The England cricket team encountered a significant setback during the first day of the final Test match against India at The Oval. Fast bowler Chris Woakes sustained a shoulder injury, which has now been confirmed to prevent him from bowling for the remainder of the match. This injury leaves England short of a key fast bowler.
Woakes was injured while fielding on the first day of the match, part of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series. He attempted to stop a boundary but fell awkwardly on his shoulder. Subsequent scans revealed the injury to be serious, leading to the announcement from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) that he would not participate further in the game.
Before his injury, Woakes bowled 14 overs, including one maiden, and took one wicket while conceding 46 runs. He dismissed KL Rahul, who was caught out after the ball deflected off his foot and hit the stumps. Throughout the series, Woakes has claimed 11 wickets and bowled the most overs by any pace bowler, totaling 181.
