Injury Updates for England's World Cup Squad

Reece James and Jarell Quansah will miss England's FIFA World Cup last-32 match against DR Congo, scheduled for Wednesday in Atlanta. Quansah suffered an ankle injury during England's final group-stage victory over Panama, while James is dealing with a hamstring issue. Both players were absent from training leading up to the knockout game, according to reports.

Djed Spence, a full-back from Tottenham, is anticipated to take over the right-back position. Throughout the tournament, Spence has played in various roles, including a brief appearance in England's opening win against Croatia, spending 66 minutes at left-back during the draw with Ghana, and later moving to right-back in the match against Panama.

Concerns for Manager Tuchel

The right-back position has become increasingly problematic for manager Thomas Tuchel, especially after Tino Livramento from Newcastle had to withdraw from the squad due to a calf injury just before the tournament. Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah was called up to replace him.

Despite these challenges, the remaining members of England's 26-man squad participated in a full training session on Tuesday in preparation for the knockout match.

Exciting Knockout Stage Matchup

On Wednesday, Thomas Tuchel's team will face DR Congo, who are making their knockout stage debut. This marks DR Congo's first World Cup appearance in 52 years. They managed to draw with Portugal in the group stage and came from behind to secure a 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan, setting the stage for an exciting clash.
