England Announces Unchanged Squad for Second Test Against India
England's Bold Decision Ahead of Second Test
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) along with the team management has made a significant decision prior to the second match of the ongoing five-match Test series against India. The playing XI for the second Test, scheduled to take place at Edgbaston starting Wednesday, July 2, has been revealed, and notably, there are no changes to the squad. Consequently, Jofra Archer will remain on the sidelines for this match.
For the second consecutive Test, England has announced its playing XI two days in advance. Traditionally, the team announcement occurred a day before the match, but this time it was made earlier. Following an incredible victory at Headingley, where the host team chased down a target of 371 runs in the fourth innings, England has taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. While there were changes in the squad, the playing XI remains the same as in the first match.
There were speculations that the ECB might include Jofra Archer in the lineup to bolster their bowling attack for the second Test. However, this did not materialize. Archer was absent from practice sessions due to a family emergency, which may have influenced the decision to keep the team unchanged.
