The Importance of Youth in Nation Building
On Friday, Telangana's Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla emphasized the crucial role of youth in shaping a robust and forward-thinking nation, highlighting that sportsmanship is essential for India's future.
During the prize distribution event of the Pradhan Mantri Sansad Khel Mahotsav-2026 held at the district stadium in Mahbubnagar, organized by MP DK Aruna, the Governor remarked that engaging in sports promotes personal growth, teamwork, patience, and discipline.
Youth and Sports for Nation Building
He pointed out that the passion and resolve of the youth form a solid base for national progress, as stated in an official release on Friday. The Governor noted that such sporting events, which showcase rural talent, play a significant role in fostering inclusive development.
He also mentioned initiatives like Khelo India and Fit India, which aim to strengthen grassroots sports and discover new talent. According to him, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, sports extend beyond just winning medals; they are vital for personal development, self-esteem, and fostering national unity.
Encouraging Sports for All
The Governor stressed the importance of providing every child in rural areas with opportunities to excel in sports. He added that traditional practices such as yoga and martial arts contribute to a harmonious balance of body, mind, and spirit, which is essential for achieving excellence.
He noted that incorporating sports into the mainstream education system, as outlined in the National Education Policy-2020, is a significant step towards nurturing future champions.

In his congratulatory remarks to the winners, the Governor praised the event's organizers, coaches, parents, and young athletes for their contributions to its success. He urged all involved to continue nurturing talent and promoting sportsmanship to build a strong and united India.
Unveiling Rural Talent
MP DK Aruna highlighted that the Sansad Khel Mahotsav is instrumental in identifying rural sporting talent and providing them with opportunities on international platforms. She noted that sports inspire youth and guide them towards positive paths, adding that Prime Minister Modi's focus on sports has led to India's increased success in global competitions.
Event Overview and Attendees
The competitions within the Mahbubnagar parliamentary constituency took place from March 9 to 15 at the mandal level, followed by assembly-level events from March 15 to 20, and concluding with parliamentary-level competitions on March 21-22.
The event saw the presence of notable figures including MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy, Mayor Mamata, State BJP president N Ramachander Rao, and international women cricketers Diana David and Gongidi Trisha Reddy, along with Women's Premier League cricketer Trisha Poojitha, among other public representatives, athletes, and organizers.
Earlier, the Governor was welcomed at the R&B Guest House in Mahbubnagar by MP DK Aruna, District Collector Khushboo Gupta, and SP D. Janaki, who presented him with a bouquet.
