Empowering Youth and Sports: PM Modi's Vision for a Developed India by 2047
Emphasis on Sports and Youth Empowerment
During the 80th Independence Day celebration at the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the pivotal role of sports and youth in shaping India's future towards a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.
As per a statement from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Prime Minister noted significant advancements in the sports sector, stating, "The TOPS initiative has seen remarkable success. With the Khelo India Games, University Games, Winter Games, Beach Games, and improvements in sports infrastructure, coaching, medicine, and nutrition, India is progressing towards excellence in these fields. Even if young individuals do not become athletes, numerous opportunities are emerging within the sports support ecosystem."
Launch of Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana
The Prime Minister introduced the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana, a scheme aimed at benefiting the youth for years to come. He stated, "On August 15th, we are launching a scheme worth ₹1 lakh crore for the youth of our nation. Under this initiative, the government will provide ₹15,000 to every young person who secures a job in the private sector. Companies that create new job opportunities will also receive incentives. This scheme is expected to generate approximately 3.5 crore new jobs for the youth."
India's Aspirations in Global Sports
The Prime Minister elaborated on India's ambitions in the global sports arena, asserting, "India's performance in sports is steadily improving, and we are positioning ourselves as strong candidates to host the 2036 Olympics. Additionally, we will host the Commonwealth Games in 2030."
He emphasized the need for broader participation in the Olympic Games, which feature around 40 sports and 325-350 events, stating, "India does not participate in nearly two-thirds of these events. We aim to host the 2036 Olympics and must focus on these areas. A talent-hunt campaign will be initiated to discover young athletes."
'Nasha Mukt Bharat': A Shared Responsibility
Addressing the issue of substance abuse among youth, the Prime Minister called for a collective national effort, stating, "Drug abuse is becoming a significant crisis for our youth. A 'Nasha Mukt Bharat' must be a shared responsibility. Our younger generation must be strong for a brighter future, and we must harness their strength for national progress."
Youth-Centric Development for a 'Viksit Bharat'
The Prime Minister reiterated the crucial role of youth in India's development, saying, "The youth of my country are vital to our journey towards a 'Viksit Bharat'. We must align our goals with their aspirations and ensure their active participation in this mission."
Support for Entrepreneurs and Students
Highlighting the growth of entrepreneurship in India, the Prime Minister mentioned, "Under the Startup India initiative, there are now over 2.5 lakh registered startups across the nation."
He encouraged young entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams, assuring them of adequate resources through the government's ₹1 lakh crore Innovation Fund.
Acknowledging the financial burden of coaching classes on families, he announced a new initiative for free online coaching for students preparing for various exams, stating, "We will leverage our digital infrastructure and talented educators to create a comprehensive network for providing free coaching to the youth of our country."
