Governor Shri Haribhau Bagde

Jaipur: The Governor and Chancellor, Shri Haribhau Bagde, highlighted that animal husbandry serves as the backbone of both the rural economy of our country and state. He noted its crucial role in strengthening the economy, ensuring food security, and providing sustainable livelihoods to rural communities.

During the ninth convocation ceremony at the Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in Bikaner on Friday, Bagde addressed the attendees.

He pointed out that India is the largest milk producer globally, with advanced breeds like Gir, Tharparkar, Sahiwal, and Murrah playing a significant role. Rajasthan contributes approximately 14.51% to the country's total milk production, ranking second after Uttar Pradesh, which is a matter of pride for us.

Bagde stressed the need to promote the dairy industry, which is vital for economically empowering livestock farmers. He described agriculture and animal husbandry as complementary, stating that farmers are gaining additional economic benefits through milk production alongside farming. He urged daughters studying veterinary science and agriculture to pursue research and contribute to these fields, noting that women are proving their capabilities across various sectors.

He remarked on the abundance of talented youth in India, with many young Indians leading major companies in developed nations like the USA. This is our true strength.

Bagde emphasized the intellectual capacity and creativity of Indian youth, stating that the new education policy aims to enhance children's intellectual development from the first grade. He mentioned that a significant portion of our population is 'youthful' and encouraged them to utilize their potential to advance the nation.

He warned that the strength of our youth is a major concern for the world, as foreign powers are attempting to undermine them and push them towards substance abuse. He called on the youth to stay away from such vices and urged responsible citizens to help keep them informed. He reiterated that every individual's contribution is crucial in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a drug-free India.

Bagde concluded by stating that education is not merely about obtaining a degree but also about developing wisdom, understanding, ethics, and integrity to contribute to the nation's progress. Students should grasp this concept and move forward.

During the event, the Governor inaugurated a girls' hostel built at a cost of ₹2.55 crores within the university campus. He also launched the university's 'virtual tour', a brochure for Rajuwas observation, the annual report for 2025-26, and the latest edition of the Rajuwas newsletter.

In total, 623 degrees were awarded during the ceremony, including 462 bachelor's degrees, 141 master's degrees, and 20 Vidya-Vachaspati degrees. Additionally, two students received the Chancellor's Gold Medal, while 36 gold medals, two silver medals, and two bronze medals were also awarded, totaling 42 medals.
