A dedicated interaction event was held for Below Poverty Line (BPL) families identified through the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department's surveys from Phase 1 to Phase 8 at a private venue in Gangath. The event featured Indora MLA Malendra Rajan as the chief guest, who engaged directly with families from the Gangath-1, Gangath-2, Rappad, Ghetta, Bhalakh, and Atahra panchayats.
During his address, MLA Rajan praised Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for his unwavering commitment to supporting impoverished families. He emphasized that the state government, under the CM's guidance, is focused on ensuring that welfare schemes benefit even the most marginalized individuals in society. He stressed the importance of including only genuinely eligible families in the BPL list, thereby removing ineligible beneficiaries and prioritizing those who truly deserve assistance.
Rajan highlighted significant initiatives such as the Sukh Ashray Yojana, aimed at supporting children who have lost their parents. Approximately 6,000 children across Himachal Pradesh are receiving essential services typically provided by parents. He also mentioned the phased rollout of the Indira Gandhi Sukh Samman Yojana, designed to assist eligible women, urging attendees to take advantage of these programs for their economic and social upliftment.
Addressing the pressing issue of drug abuse, the MLA reiterated the government's zero-tolerance policy and commended the police for their efforts in combating illegal drug activities and seizing properties linked to such crimes. He expressed appreciation to the Chief Minister for approving new positions for the Nurpur Police Line.
During the event, officials from various departments provided information about their schemes to beneficiaries and representatives. The Tehsil Welfare Officer elaborated on social pension schemes and other welfare initiatives, while officials assisted families with eligibility criteria and application procedures. Rajan instructed officials to prioritize the concerns of impoverished citizens visiting government offices and ensure prompt resolutions.
He emphasized that these interaction programs serve not only to share information but also to grasp the genuine needs of BPL families and connect them with suitable government schemes.
