Gathering of Athletes at the 2nd IOA Athletes' Forum
Over 75 athletes, both active and retired, from more than 30 National Sports Federations (NSFs) convened at the 2nd IOA Athletes' Forum 2026. This event, organized by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), took place at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. The Forum served as a platform for discussions, learning, and athlete engagement, while also launching the Clean Sport Campaign, a nationwide initiative aimed at raising anti-doping awareness in collaboration with the Neeraj Chopra Foundation.
A Platform for Growth and Development
The Athletes' Forum was designed to foster athlete learning and development, featuring expert-led sessions aimed at supporting athletes beyond their competitive careers. Highlights included a masterclass on Self-Discovery and Personal Branding by Ellen Barwise and Melody Cooper from Commonwealth Sport, along with breakout sessions on Structured Career Pathways, Profile Building by LinkedIn, and Networking Skills by Simply Sport Foundation.
This event equipped athletes with practical insights and professional guidance to navigate their careers and prepare for life after sports.
Interactive Resources and Support
The Forum also included interactive booths that provided athletes with direct access to various resources and support services. Notable booths included the IOC Athlete365 Booth, which offered information on athlete wellbeing and career development, and the Clean Sport Campaign Booth, where athletes could engage with representatives and access educational materials on anti-doping.
Launch of the Clean Sport Campaign
PT Usha, President of the Indian Olympic Association, emphasized the importance of the Athletes' Forum in fostering a more athlete-centered sports ecosystem in India. She stated, "Athletes must remain at the heart of every decision we make, and platforms such as these provide an important opportunity for them to learn, connect, share experiences and contribute to the future of Indian sport."
The Clean Sport Campaign aims to enhance awareness and education regarding anti-doping through athlete-led initiatives, digital resources, workshops, and outreach programs across key sporting centers in India.
Neeraj Chopra's Perspective
Neeraj Chopra shared his insights, stating, "Every athlete dreams of representing India on the biggest stage. Success comes from years of discipline and doing the right things consistently. Clean sport is about creating a safe space for athletes to discuss doubts regarding supplements and performance pressure." He expressed gratitude to the IOA for their support in helping athletes make informed decisions.
The IOA's commitment to athlete education and integrity was reiterated by Raghuram Iyer, CEO of the Indian Olympic Association, who highlighted the importance of building an ecosystem where athletes can thrive while upholding the highest standards.
Conclusion and Future Commitment
The 2nd IOA Athletes' Forum and the Clean Sport Campaign launch reflect the Indian Olympic Association's dedication to fostering an environment where athletes can excel and compete with integrity. The Forum serves as a vital platform for athlete engagement, representation, and holistic development, ensuring that athletes are well-equipped for success both during and after their sporting careers.
