Heartfelt Incident at Kanpur Collectorate

During a public hearing at the Kanpur Collectorate on Saturday, a touching incident unfolded. A 76-year-old woman, Saraswati Devi, stood before District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh, visibly distressed and in tears. She recounted how her daughter, Premshanti, had physically assaulted her and forced her out of their home.

A Mother's Plea

Saraswati expressed her despair, stating, "My daughter has taken over the house and left me to live on the streets. Where can I go now?" Her emotional plea resonated with the DM and the officials present, prompting immediate action.

Two-Hour Mediation Session

Following the DM's orders, Joint Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Officer Anubhav Singh, along with revenue and police teams, promptly visited Dool village to assess the situation. Upon arrival, they were joined by the village head and several respected locals. A detailed mediation session lasting two hours was conducted, bringing both mother and daughter face-to-face for discussion.

Daughter's Return to Parental Home

During the mediation, it became clear that there had been ongoing tension between the mother and daughter. Saraswati expressed her desire to live peacefully in her remaining years, while Premshanti explained that she had returned to her parental home due to mistreatment in her in-laws' house. She denied the allegations of violence against her mother and mentioned that she would return to her in-laws after her marriage.

Community Intervention Leads to Reconciliation

After extensive discussions, the villagers and administrative team facilitated a reconciliation between the two parties. Ultimately, Premshanti apologized to her mother, promising to change her behavior. Saraswati was allowed to return fully to her home. The district administration took this matter seriously, with the Sub-Divisional Officer instructing the local officials to monitor Saraswati's well-being closely. Any future complaints of conflict or mistreatment would lead to immediate legal action.
