Indigo Flight Faces Emergency Landing Due to Bird Strike
An Indigo flight heading to Ranchi was forced to make an emergency landing after being struck by a vulture at an altitude of approximately 4,000 feet. Airport officials reported on Monday that there were 175 passengers on board at the time of the incident, and fortunately, all passengers are safe. The bird collided with the aircraft when it was about 10 to 12 nautical miles from the city, flying at an altitude between 3,000 and 4,000 feet. The flight was traveling from Patna to Ranchi when the pilot had to execute an emergency landing. Officials confirmed that while all passengers are unharmed, the aircraft sustained damage from the vulture strike, and engineers are currently assessing the extent of the damage.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred at 1:14 PM. Another official mentioned that the aircraft was originally destined for Kolkata. However, Indigo officials have not provided any comments regarding the situation. It is important to note that bird strikes pose a common risk in aviation, particularly during takeoff and landing phases, prompting all airlines to conduct thorough inspections before returning the aircraft to service. On Sunday, another Indigo flight from Raipur to Delhi experienced turbulence due to a dust storm, which required the pilot to ascend again before landing at Delhi Airport.
Flight Successfully Lands After Turbulence
The flight 6E 6313 managed to land safely at Delhi Airport after circling in the air multiple times. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. The pilot announced that wind speeds reached up to 80 km/h, prompting him to halt the ascent until the weather cleared. Meanwhile, rain was reported in the national capital on Sunday, accompanied by strong winds in the southern regions of Delhi. According to the meteorological department, the rainfall was caused by a cluster of clouds moving from the southeast. The rain provided significant relief from the heat, with the maximum temperature in the national capital exceeding 39 degrees Celsius earlier in the morning.
