An Air India Express flight traveling from Jeddah to Kozhikode was forced to make an emergency landing at Cochin International Airport on Thursday morning. The incident occurred due to a technical malfunction involving the landing gear and tires. The aircraft, carrying 160 passengers, experienced issues with its right main landing gear and tire, prompting air traffic control to divert the flight to Kochi for safety reasons. Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) confirmed that Flight IX 398 safely landed at 9:07 AM, following all emergency protocols. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and all passengers are safe.


Technical Issues Prompt Diversion

CIAL issued a statement indicating that the Air India Express flight IX 398, which had departed from Jeddah for Kozhikode, was redirected to Kochi due to technical difficulties. The statement confirmed that the aircraft landed safely under emergency conditions at 9:07 AM.


A spokesperson for CIAL noted that all emergency services were activated in advance, ensuring that neither passengers nor crew members were harmed. Upon landing, inspections revealed that both tires on the right side had burst. Following this, the runway was cleared and reopened for operations.
