Emergency Delivery Leads to Chaos in Etah Hospital
Unexpected Delivery in Hospital Emergency
Late Sunday night, a woman seeking treatment for kidney stone pain unexpectedly went into labor at a medical college's emergency department in Etah. This incident sparked outrage from her husband, who claimed he had been away from home for a year.
Around 2 AM, the woman was brought to the emergency room due to severe pain. Upon examination, the attending physician inquired about her pregnancy after noticing her large abdomen, but the woman denied being pregnant. Consequently, the medical staff administered pain relief injections. After a short while, the woman requested to use the restroom.
When she did not return for an extended period, another woman accompanying her checked on her and discovered that she had given birth. Nursing staff quickly responded, taking the newborn to the Special Neonatal Care Unit (SNCU) due to the critical condition, while the mother was admitted to the gynecology ward.
The husband expressed disbelief, questioning how his wife could be pregnant after being away for a year and why she had not informed anyone in the family. His agitation continued as he followed the staff from the emergency room to the gynecology ward.
Dr. Sadhna Singh, head of the obstetrics department, stated that the woman was admitted around 2:30 AM. Typically, new mothers are monitored for 48 hours, but the husband insisted on taking her home. Following formal procedures, the woman was discharged with him the next morning.
Newborn's Condition Deteriorates
Dr. Sadhna Singh noted that the premature delivery left the newborn in critical condition. The baby was admitted to the SNCU for treatment but was referred to Agra for better care. Unfortunately, the infant passed away en route.
Mother of Six
According to family members, the woman is already a mother of six. Her husband has been working away from home for the past year, and the news of the late-night delivery led to disputes among relatives, culminating in his outburst at the hospital.
