Elon Musk Critiques Trump's Spending Bill as a 'Disgusting Abomination'

Musk's Strong Opposition to Legislative Agenda
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has ramped up his criticism of President Donald Trump's legislative proposals, labeling a significant spending bill as a "disgusting abomination" in a series of posts on the social media platform X. The tech entrepreneur, who recently stepped down from his position overseeing government efficiency reforms, expressed his disapproval of the House-approved legislation on Tuesday, stating, "This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong."
Following his initial remarks, Musk continued to voice his concerns, asserting that the bill would "massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to USD 2.5 trillion" and implying that "Congress is making America bankrupt."
I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore.

The proposed "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" aims to extend Trump's 2017 tax cuts while increasing funding for military and border security. However, it also proposes cuts to Medicaid, food assistance programs, and various social support initiatives.
As per the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, this legislation could add around USD 3.8 trillion to the federal government's existing debt of USD 36.2 trillion over the next ten years. Currently, Senate discussions regarding the bill are ongoing, with Trump actively lobbying senators to back his extensive legislative package. During a briefing on Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt minimized the impact of Musk's criticism.
"The president is already aware of Elon Musk's stance on this bill. It does not alter the president's viewpoint. This is one big, beautiful bill, and he remains committed to it," she remarked. Musk had previously voiced his dissatisfaction with the spending package, highlighting concerns about budget deficits and its effects on government efficiency.
Musk's earlier disappointment with the spending bill led to his announcement of leaving the Trump administration, resigning from his role as a "special government employee" within the Department of Government Efficiency.
During a press conference in the Oval Office on Friday, Trump lauded the legislation as "an unbelievable bill" that "cuts your deficits," although he indicated a desire for "a bigger cut in taxes." Musk did not revisit his criticisms of the bill during that event.
