Musk's Outrage Over Healthcare Delays

New York: Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has criticized the Canadian healthcare system following the tragic death of Prashant Sreekumar, a 44-year-old man of Indian descent, who reportedly died from cardiac arrest after waiting over eight hours for treatment at a hospital in Edmonton.

Sreekumar, who worked as an accountant, was admitted to the hospital on December 22 after experiencing severe chest pains. After being checked in at triage, he was left to wait in the waiting area.

Unfortunately, when he was finally called for treatment after an extensive wait, he passed away almost immediately, as reported by local news outlets.

Musk took to social media to express his views, stating, "When the government handles healthcare, it’s akin to the DMV," drawing a comparison between the Canadian healthcare system and the US Department of Motor Vehicles.

On Saturday, a leader from the Indian community highlighted the shortage of hospital beds in Canada, which contributed to the delayed triage that led to Sreekumar's death at Grey Nuns Hospital in Alberta's capital.

Niharika, Prashant's wife, has called for accountability from the hospital staff regarding her husband's treatment, expressing her desire for justice in an interview.

She emphasized the need for the emergency department staff to be held responsible for the circumstances surrounding her husband's care, as reported by a local media outlet.

In addition, Varinder Bhullar, a family friend and community leader, remarked on the declining state of Canada's healthcare system, noting that it has worsened significantly since he arrived in the country 30 years ago.

Bhullar also mentioned that this incident is not unique, as many community members have approached him with similar concerns.
